At the Cuero ISD Education Foundation, we believe in the power of education and community collaboration. Thanks to the generous support from the Cuero community—through sponsorship and attendance at our annual Concert for Classrooms—we’re able to fund impactful teaching grants that enrich the educational experience for our students and staff. One such grant, "Cruisin' With My Foodies," is making waves at Cuero High School, and we're excited to share how it’s transforming the lives of our students.
On Friday, October 18, Cuero High School hosted its "LIFE 101" presentations, an initiative designed to equip seniors with essential life skills as they prepare for adulthood. These informative sessions covered a range of responsibilities, including meal preparation, managing finances, changing a flat tire, taking care of their health, and job searching. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to gain practical knowledge that will serve them well in their future personal and professional endeavors.
A highlight of the event was the "Cruisin' With My Foodies" segment led by Laura Notaro. This initiative has received grant support from the Education Foundation not once, but twice! With this funding, Laura and her advanced culinary students have been hard at work preparing delicious meals while learning valuable culinary skills. On the Thursday before the presentations, students prepped by making pico de gallo, shredding cheese blends, weighing meat, cutting limes, and crafting homemade taco seasoning. Their dedication and teamwork not only showcased their culinary talents but also demonstrated the significant impact of the grant funding.
Moreover, the Cuero ISD Education Foundation board members were eager to be part of this enriching experience. Board member Sandy White attended the "LIFE 101" presentations, emphasizing the Foundation's commitment to engaging with the community and supporting our students firsthand. These interactions reinforce our mission: by supporting the Cuero ISD Education Foundation, community members are directly contributing to the growth and success of Cuero Independent School District students, faculty, and staff.
As we look ahead, we’re thrilled to share that the culinary group will also prepare and serve the desserts at our upcoming Concert for Classrooms VIP Party, showcasing their talents while continuing to make a positive impact on our community.
The Cuero ISD Education Foundation is proud to be a catalyst for change, empowering our students to thrive and grow. By attending events like the Concert for Classrooms, you’re not just supporting a fundraiser; you’re investing in the future of our students and helping us create more opportunities like "Cruisin' With My Foodies."
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to seeing you at future events! Together, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of Cuero’s youth.
