One such opportunity, made possible by the generosity of Willie J. and Eva G. Self, is the Willie J. and Eva G. Self Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship celebrates faith, community involvement, and the Christian values that Willie and Eva held dear throughout their lives.

Willie and Eva Self were longtime Cuero residents and devoted Calvary Baptist Church members. Their lives were defined by their faith and their dedication to their community. Eva, who worked as a telephone operator for Western Union for over 20 years, and Willie, although not formally connected with the Cuero ISD Education Foundation, shared a deep belief in the value of education. They recognized the importance of supporting young people as they worked toward their futures and believed that the mission of the Foundation aligned with their desire to give back to Cuero’s youth.
Although they did not have direct ties to the Foundation, their desire to leave a lasting impact on the lives of students led to the creation of this scholarship. Through their generosity, Willie and Eva have established a legacy that reflects their core values—faith, service, and compassion.
